Trekking in the Langtang Valley combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang, with the high mountain lakes at Gosainkund and the beautiful Helambu Valley. Trail of Langtang valley trek is in the most unspoiled national parks of Nepal, which is perhaps why there is such a high appeal of this trekking route. Situated at North of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border, it is the most easily accessible highland sanctuary from the capital. This remote Langtang valley is enclosed by snow-capped mountains which culminate in the peak of Langtang Lirung (7246m). Langtang valley trekking starts from the lower Langtang Valley which takes you through forests and among the villages and farmlands of many who are of Tibetan origin. The deep gorges of Bhote Koshi and Langtang Khola are thickly forested with rhododendron, oak, maple and alder. The stretch of forest around Ghoda Tabela in the lower Langtang Valley and below Gosainkunda is inhabited by the red panda, a rare and threatened symbol of a healthy Himalayan ecosystem. As you make your way through the Langtang, there is a high possibility of seeing many interesting wildlife. Common to these forests are the wild boar, Himalayan black bear, ghoral, grey langur monkey and leopard. Larch, a rare deciduous conifer, is also found in the forest of lower Langtang Valley. Further up, Himalayan thahr, musk deer and snow leopard can be found. The upper Langtang Valley is one of the few known breeding grounds of the ibils bills besides the Tibetan snow cock and snow partridge.
Like other Himalayan nature parks, Langtang typically is explored on foot. There are several possible trails to choose from depending on preference and time availability. The Langtang Valley is easily approached from Dhunche, the main trading post of the area, which takes only a day's drive from Kathmandu. The upper reaches of Langtang can be reached in four days by walk. Once above the Langtang village, visitors can explore the high valley of Langshisa, Yala peak and Tsero, Ri. These and other villages of upper Langtang are inhabited by people of Tibetan descent whereas the villagers of Dhunche, Bharkhu and Syabru. Further down are home to the Tamangs of Nepal's middle hills, who inhabit the area and continue to practice their local religion of Buddhism and to earn their livelihood herding yak and sheep.
From Langtang village, the track leads to Kyangjin, a summer settlement, with its small gompa and cheese factory. (3,740 m). This is the site of the Yala Cheese Factory. There is a STOL airstrip at Chhaldang, a short distance east of Kyangjin. Visiting to the Yala Cheese Factory (4.633 m) and the small lakes beyond Yala are a worthwhile sight. Yala can be reached within half a day from Kyangjin Gompa. From Kyangjin Gompa, a continuation to the pastures of Langsisa (4.084 m) provides amazing views of numerous glaciers. There are some huts in Langsisa that can be reached within a one day's walk from Kyangjin Gompa. You’ll have enough time to explore the head of the valley as you get closer to the glacier system or climbing a nearby peak for stupendous mountain views. From there, you can ascend past the holy lakes of Gosaikunda to enter Helambu via the Laurebina Pass (4610m). You’ll see the stunning views of the Manaslu, Ganesh Himal & even as far as the Annapurna massif. A series of undulating ridges offers a delightful walk before descending to the edge of Kathmandu.
Day 01- Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1345meters).
There you will be met by our airport representative and transferred to hotel by private tourist vehicle. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02- Trip briefing, Sightseeing, last minute preparation
You will meet your trekking guide, discuss the trekking program and coordinate any last-minute arrangements. After staff meeting, with Mosaic Adventure's professional tour guide we visit Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Rest of the time you can use for travelling around Thamel and shopping of needed equipment and other necessaries. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03- Drive to Sybru Bensi (1462meters) by bus. 8 hours.
From Kathmandu, we take seven- eight hour drive to Syabru Besi. Daily buses leave for Syabru Besi. Kathmandu via Trishuli to Dhunche 1950m. From Trishuli to Syabru besi is rough road some time in monsoon road will block. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 04- Trek to Lama Hotel (2500meters) 5 hours.
Today, the first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. This trail gradually ascents up to Bamboo passing through Landslide. Afterwards, your trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400meters) through Bamboo (1960meters) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. You can have lunch at this place if you like and at the end your trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En route you could see red pandas, monkeys and bears if you are lucky. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 05- Trek to Langtang Village (3307meters) 5 hours.
From lama hotel, we continue gently ascending above the Langtang Khola. As the trail progresses, it becomes steeper. From time and again we can have the most exotic sights of Langtang Lirung lying at 7246 meter. The trail leads to a log bridge and on climbing further we come across lush meadows of Ghora Tabela at 2992m. We will see several lodges and a police check post. Further on, the route opens up into a wide valley of yak pastures and scattered Tamang villages showcasing water-driven mills and prayer wheels. On descending for a while, we arrive at Langtang village after crossing a stream and reaching to the height 3430 meters. Langtang village is the headquarters for Langtang National Park and has flat-roofed Tibetan style houses, hotels and cultivated lands yielding buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips, barley etc. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 06- Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3798meters) 4 hours.
The trail skirts gradually through rich yak pastures and interesting traditional villages of Muna to Singdun. We cross a wooden cantilever bridge and reach a wide valley after climbing a moraine. Finally, on ascending along the mountain passes we arrive at Kyagjin Gompa. There is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 07- Trek to Lama Hotel (2500meters) 6 hours.
Morning visit around Kyangjin Gompa and afternoon return Lama Hotel, we take a route back to Lama Hotel following trail of we retrace our route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. We stop briefly for lunch and thereafter continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 08: Trek to Syabru Bensi
We hike back to Syabru Besi from Lama Hotel. We can walk along the rising and falling path leading to the village which provides us the opportunity to get a closer look at customs and culture of Tamang ethnic group. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 09: Syabru Bensi to Kathmandu
Drive back to Kathmandu which will takes us around 8 hours.
Day 10: Final departure
Farewell and transfer to airport for final departure to destination country.

How fit do I have to be?
Langtang valley trek is appropriate for any kind of person even with no previous trekking or hiking experience. If you are physically fit and do not suffer from pre-existing medical condition, no prior experience is required to enjoy this trek.
What is the level of accommodation like?
In Kathmandu you'll stay in a twin room with private facilities like attach bathroom, air conditioner etc (twin room not applicable if you have booked for only one person).
Tea house accommodation will be available during trekking period. According to the availability we will sleep in dormitories, twin and triple rooms. The bed are available with mattress of various thickness therefore you will be provided a sleeping bag to use throughout the trek.
Is pick up service available if my arrival in Kathmandu is before the actual trip starting date?
Definitely yes, if you let us know your airways name, arrival date and time, one of us will be there to guide you to the hotel you will be staying.
Is enough drinking water available? How many liters of water shall we carry in our day pack?
You will have enough water available throughout the trip. But, we recommend you to buy mineral water available in plastic bottles that can be bought at all teahouses.
You can carry 3-4 liters of water; you can get your bottle refilled at teahouses available throughout the trip.
Where can I keep my luggage?
You can keep the unnecessary items in the hotel in Kathmandu for free of charge.
Do I need to take walking poles?
Walking poles are not essential but would be useful especially on the way down. You can buy or hire those in Kathmandu.
Can I buy any equipment in Kathmandu or Pokhara before the start of the trip?
There are plenty of trekking shops in Kathmandu and Pokhara selling equipments for cheaper price comparing to the price in developed countries. You can get it for cheaper but cannot guarantee the quality.
Can I recharge my iPod, batteries while on the mountain?
Yes, you can recharge your iPod, batteries etc with solar system. But, please remember that plugs might be different so don’t forget to buy adaptors in Kathmandu before the trip. Those are sold in the many stores and stalls on the street in Kathmandu. Recharge service is paid service, you can expect around 2-3$ per hour.
Is it recommended to get Nepalese visa in advance or at the airport?
Obtaining Nepalese visa at arrival is easier expecting some time queuing. If you get your visa in advance, you can avoid the queue.
Don’t forget to bring cash as ATM is not available at the site.
Note: If you are staying for than 15 days, don’t forget to ask visa for 30 day.
Can we take showers during the trek?
You can get hot shower service throughout the trip. You will find a common bathroom in most of the places.
How much money per day do you think I will need? What currency should I take?
Local currency in Nepal is rupees. Dollar is recommended as you can get it exchange easily. Though you get less rate on travellers cheque we suggest you to carry mixture of both depending on your need. Depending on your drinking habit around $10 per day for your extra drink and bar bill during the trek and around $20 for lunch/dinner in Kathmandu.
What do I have to carry with me on trek?
You will only have to carry a daypack, which should be a reasonable size to carry a water bottle, sunscreen, camera, etc. Your other packs are carried by porters.
What if I get sick while on trek?
It depends on nature of sickness. Normally if you get sick you will descend to lower altitude with help of support staff. But if the case is critical we will arrange emergency helicopter evacuation service. Our guide will take immediate action according to the situation.
